The Dayparts window is used in Analysis windows (Song Analysis, Ad Analysis, Share Report and Advertising Expenditure) and the Audience Reaction window to specify time periods for analysis. Depending on the Media Types selected, you can select from pre-defined Dayparts (Standard TV Dayparts and/or Standard Radio Dayparts) and Custom Dayparts that you create. Custom Dayparts can use defined time ranges down to any minute in any selected hour, and can apply if required on specific days of the week. So, in addition to the preset Dayparts, you can analyze output for any specialized time interval on any Day or Days of the week you choose.

This band marks the hours in the day. Its default display is Midnight to Midnight, but it can be moved to start in any hour of the day. Left-click and drag the band to display your optimum start hour for any day. When you define your time range, using the Start and End Markers in the Hours band or the Start and End fields, the Daypart will apply for the whole week, unless you specify otherwise using the Day Checkboxes.
NOTE: The Hours display format will depend on your selection for time setting in Windows Regional settings, accessed from the Windows Control Panel.
Define your Custom Daypart hours using these markers. Left-click and drag the markers to any start and finish hour. The Start and End fields hour values automatically update.
You can define any time range, down to fractions of an hour. However, the markers are always positioned at the hour point, allowing time intervals to be added in the Daypart Start and End fields.
This detail shows the markers at adjacent hours, allowing any minute range to be entered. Note the partial overlap coloring.
And this detail shows the markers overlapping, allowing a Daypart period of less than one hour to be defined. Note the full overlap coloring.

You can also type in Start and End times in these fields, including the minutes past the hour. The Start and End markers automatically move to the relevant Hour positions.
The default setting for Time Zones is no Adjustment for Time Zones. This facility allows users to apply TV daypart synchronization across time zones. With this box checked, for example, 8pm with Time Zone Adjustment equates to 8pm in the Eastern and Central Time Zones, and 7pm in the Mountain and Pacific Time Zones.
The default setting is for the time range in a daypart to apply seven days a week. Check or uncheck any box in the Custom Daypart Edit window to activate Analysis for that day. Data for days that are not checked is excluded from research calculations.

The date entry and time range selection controls, as well as most displayed or printed dates and times, follow the settings you specify in your computer's regional settings. So if, for example, you set your PC to "English (UK)" you will get dd/mm/ yyyy format dates instead of the US standard mm/dd/ yyyy. If you use this tool to change date and time formats, am/pm indicators, and separators, those changes will be reflected. The Dayparts window top scale changes from 12M-12M to 0-24 depending on the settings. Note that other regional settings are NOT used, such as the position of commas in formatted numbers.
To revert to the default All Hours selection in the current session, deselect the Daypart box and then click it again to reopen it.
